Organisation's Profile:

Jana Unnayan Samiti, Tripura (JUST) is the diocesan social service society of Agartala Diocese, Tripura, India. It is a registered non-governmental organization under society’s registration act of 1860. Its head office is situated in Durjoynagar, Agartala.

Mission:
Our mission is to commit ourselves totally to the poor and the marginalized through dialogue, mutual trust and empowerment towards integral human development.

Programme Activities:
Being a social developmental organization JUST is involved in wide ranges of issues to improve the quality of living of the people. But few priority intervene issues are:

Community Development: JUST has been working for the development of poor and marginalized section of the society. JUST facilitate the formation of self-help groups and assist them in saving, micro credit, leadership development, income generation etc.

Peace Building: JUST has been promoting peace to bring in reconciliation and peace between the ethnic communities. Tripura has a history of ethnic tension and promotion of peace is important.

Disaster Preparedness: JUST is facilitating the community to develop their skill to tackle disaster mainly flood and earthquake. Awareness Programs, Establishment of Village Disaster Management Committees, Formation of Task Force Groups and Preparation of Community Plans are the intervention strategy.

Human Rights: JUST is working for the rehabilitation of Mizoram Bru Displaced people who came to Tripura in 1997 ethnic clashes between Mizos and the Reangs. It is also engaged in promotion rights of Adivasi community in Tripura.

Vocational Skill Development: JUST is implementing various programmes on vocational skill development for employment and self-employment. Like Driving, Weaving, Electrician, Beautician etc.

Health: Community health services, promotion of herbal medicines, prevention of communicable diseases are the major thrust area under health intervention.
